The Traveling Dhole - Sirius
Family History:
Sirus is not the breeding male of his pack, that’s his brother Sanuk. He left his home (also known as a natal) pack with Sanuk roughly 6 years ago when they were both two years old, to find mates and start their own packs. That first few months was rough and Sirius and Sanuk had to learn to take smaller prey then they were use to. Instead of eating Sambar deer they were eating hare and muntjac when they could catch them. Luckily, they ran into Tika, a lone female dhole who had also left her natal pack. The three of them hit it off, but it was Sanuk who Tika ended up bonding with.
Sirius had thought about leaving but then the first pups were born. By far Sanuk and Tika were the better hunters, but Sirus really did his best knowing those young pups and their mom were waiting at home for food. When the pups were 6 weeks old, Tika returned to hunting, but the pups couldn’t be left alone and so uncle Sirus took over. He loved the pups, loved playing with them, watching to make sure they didn’t go too far. He watched them as they stocked bugs and found out that different sticks and leaves had different taste. When Sirius and Tika returned back with food, he let the pups eat first.
The last few years have been hard for Sirius and his pack. It has grown and although their National Park home is safe, he often wonders about his siblings and the young nieces and nephews he sees leaving the national park and what fate awaits them.
Favorite food:
Sirius really loves Sambar Deer and Chital but due to their size they can be a bit tricky at times. When it rains a lot or there is older or slower animal, they are a bit easier. Sirius also has no problem eating hog deer.
Hobbies:
Sirius loves to play with pups each spring. His brother Sanuk has no problem letting uncle Sirus take over baby-sitting. At times Sirius has even been known to help dig a new den area of the pups or for go a meal to allow the pups to feed.
